Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are always welcome at the Naperville Public Library. The NPL Volunteer Application
and Skills Assessment forms are available at the upper level Information Desk at Nichols Library; the Adult Services Desk at Naper Blvd Library; and the
Adult Services Desk at 95th Street Library. Both forms must be completed on site. Volunteers
will be contacted as opportunities become available. Below are just few of the many ideas on volunteer opportunities.
Adult Volunteers:
There are a variety of opportunities including sorting materials to be shelved, assisting a department
with weekly assignments, special projects and other opportunities based on volunteer skills and Library
needs. Short term projects and regular positions are available.
High School Students:
Whether you are volunteering for school classes, scholarship/college applications, job or
personal interests, applications are always accepted. We offer a variety of special tasks
throughout the year.
Volunteer tasks for adults and students include office assistance, hospitality, conducting
surveys, and other special projects that supplement departmental needs.
To all volunteers, the Naperville Public Library will:
- provide a general orientation
- coordinate a schedule to meet the needs of the individual and the Library
- offer volunteer opportunities that are interesting and challenging
- appreciate your willingness to share your time and talents with the Library
Volunteers will be asked to:
- maintain a regular volunteer schedule
- be courteous to Library users and staff
- be familiar with and comply with relevant Library policies at all times
- notify the Library if you cannot come for your scheduled volunteer time
